Pupils  showed guests the extent of their creativity during a collection of performances which exhibited their hard work over the first school term so far.

Staff and parents enjoyed an evening of “The Grimm’s Fairy Tales” to celebrate half term. The event was a culmination of the pupil’s cross-curricular project throughout Design and Technology, Art, Music and Drama.

Three shows were performed continually throughout the evening in different rooms so each guest could step in and out of Fairy Tales.

The stories of Little Red Riding Hood, Rumpelstiltskin and Hansel and Gretel were played out using props, atmospheric music and acting skills which the pupils all designed and worked on themselves. They created the artefacts in Design and Technology and decorated them in Art. The savvy pupils also composed the spooky music whilst learning the lines for each play.

The Year 7 Choir also stepped in throughout the night to sing the Evening Prayer from Hansel and Gretel during the interludes.

Pupils Calder Douglas and Archie Williams played the cunning Rumpelstiltskin.

Music Teacher and Head of Year 7, Christina Boyle organised the show. She said: “We are really pleased with how it went. The pupils have been working towards this throughout the half term so it was brilliant to finally see all their hard work come together.

“It was great that they could share what they have been doing with their parents and it was a fantastic evening.”
