The School showcased an array of exceptional pupil talent during its wonderful Winter Concert on Tuesday, 6 December.

The show was held at Cecil Sharp House and gave all the guests a truly festive feel. The concert was one of the best yet, with a variety of group and solo performances.

The music department drew on the resources of various performance groups, including the Orchestra, Big Band, Soul Band, Choir and Chamber Choir. Pupils had worked hard in rehearsals and came together on the night to blow the audience away with their perfectly timed and stunning recitals. Solo singers and musicians all gave exceptional renditions, with music ranging from the expected traditional Christmas songs putting everyone in the spirit as well as tunes from Bizet to Miles Davis and beyond.

One in five pupils  were involved in the concert, making it one of the biggest yet and the staff choir is the largest to date.

Director of Music, Richard Brightwell commented: “All of these students have worked incredibly hard through the Autumn Term to learn and perfect a variety of repertoire during lunchtime and after-school rehearsals. There are many musically talented pupils at Portland Place and the Christmas Concert certainly evidenced this; it was a fantastic way to end the year.”
