Hugh Nianias discovers the rewards of taking a gap year
The School was lucky to be able to welcome Hugh Nianis before half term to talk about his experiences since completing his studies last summer.
Hugh has chosen to take a gap year. ‘I just felt I had a lot of growing up to do and I did not feel the need to jump straight into full time study.’ Hugh has been working in various jobs around London to support himself. He is interested in travelling and was one of the students who raised £6000 for a school renovation in Tanzania. Hugh was part of a group who travelled to the remote village of Babati to volunteer with the work.
Hugh’s visit gave our current pupils the opportunity to consider their future career plans and the value of taking time out to broaden their horizons. We were very pleased to see him back at school, and to find out more about his experiences since leaving Portland Place. We wish him all the very best and will be watching out for more news from him in the future.
